Testimonies vs Excuses

September 02, 2010 Bloggies by Jimi Higgins

John 5:5 “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.  6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?  7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.  8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.  9. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.”

This man had a good excuse.  He had great desires, but he had no one to help him.  So he used this excuse for 38 yrs. to continue in his world of limitations and dependency on others.  Jesus showed up one day and got to the core of the problem.  With Jesus in the picture there is no room for excuses.  He overrides every excuse for failure or less than living.

The Unseen, The Unknown and the Visible

Blog by Pastor Jimi Higgins

Most folk think they are just one-dimensional and that’s the world that they can see with their natural eye.  There is also an unseen world where faith lives and operates. Doubt operates in the realm of the unknown.  The unseen and the unknown are similar in the fact that you can’t see either dimension but both are very real. Many times it’s in the dimension of the unknown that doubt enjoys its best harvest.  It’s in the realm of the unknown that the enemy can whisper great discouragement and paint ugly scenarios that if believed, can cause fear to destroy even the greatest of dreams.   Faith operates in the realm of the invisible,

There Is A Place

Psalm 5:11 "Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

 12.  For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield."

There is a place in God that He has provided a refuge for His own, a safe place, where the enemy cannot reach you.  It is somewhere past the blood splattered altar of sacrifice, beyond the elements of daily provision and fellowship in the Holy Place, behind the veil and into His presence, there it is, “the place”, your place, the hiding place, the secret place.  Not at His feet, but it’s in His arms.  Not only does He welcome your presence in this secret place, He has waited for you to arrive at this place in life where you need His comfort and His protection.  You can trust Him.  He’ll protect you.

Buried Just Beneath the Rubble Of Our Own Self-Worth

By Pastor Jimi Higgins

The power of life and death has been divinely hidden in the mystery of the power of the tongue.  Many times, the secret to our own deliverance is buried just beneath the rubble of our own self-worth. The veil of our own self-doubt, has kept us in the outer court, longing to be worthy enough, to pass beyond the place of our own weakness that we might be brought to a place of strength, to finally become worthy to stand in His presence.  There is not such a place.  If it were true, the entrance to His presence would be based on our own righteousness.  Self would be king and exalted because of what we have done to make God satisfied with our efforts to please him.

Peace, Peace, Wonderful Peace

By Pastor Jimi Higgins

I got a call today from a friend of mine who is a Sr. Pastor up north.  He called to get my input on some situations that he had to deal with and he wanted a different perspective.  His situation was really difficult to find a solution and he was very upset at the negative possibilities that could result from confronting the people who had involved themselves in matters that was none of their business.  I could hear the tone in his voice of uncertainty, because this could blow up into a really huge personal detour in his ministry and life.  The more he explained it, the bigger the problem seemed to get.  The more he tried to explain the complexities and ramifications of this problem the more impossible it seemed.
